Make this meal-replacer strawberry smoothie bowl in three simple steps - chop, blend, top!
Strawberry Smoothie Bowl
This strawberry smoothie bowl is the best way to begin making smoothie bowls.
At our house, we treat it like a sunday party, and set out bowls of toppings so we all build our own.
I always offer baobab powder because it really gives a smoothie an enormous immunity boost, and brings a citrus flavor to the smoothie. It makes a strawberry smoothie taste extra bright, although you can also just toss a small orange into the blender.
And my additions here include buckwheat groats for protein, but chia seeds do the same thing. And the rose petal water adds elegance but is certainly optional. Enjoy with spoon or straw!

How to Make a Strawberry Smoothie Bowl
The best way to make a smoothie bowl requires three simple steps:
Step 1: Blend up your frozen fruit. In this case, strawberries and banana. One can be not frozen if need be.
Step 2: Add your liquids and other add ins such as flavorings, seeds, buckwheat groats, nut butters, anything else you want in your smoothie. You can choose from my smoothie add-in list on this post! Blend again!
Step 3: Pour in a bowl and the topping party begins! Again, choose from my smoothie add-in list here or go simple such as more sliced bananas, berries, chocolate chips, granola, chia seeds. The list goes on and on.
How to Eat a Smoothie Bowl
With a spoon! Or with a straw or both.
Does a Smoothie Bowl Last?
It's hard to store a smoothie bowl because of the toppings, so I suggest eating it in one sitting.
What Tools Do You Need For a Smoothie Bowl?
A high speed blender is great, but any blender will do - just let your frozen fruit thaw a bit if you have a regular blender.

What Ingredients Do You Need For a Smoothie Bowl?
Frozen Strawberries
Frozen Banana – Or try frozen cauliflower rice or frozen zucchini. Banana is really just a thickener although you might need to add a dash of maple syrup if it's not sweet enough without banana.
Dairy free milk – I like almond and cashew for the added protein.
Nuts & Seeds are option, but a great source of added protein and fiber. I added buckwheat groats, but you can also try chia seeds, flaxseeds, and any nut butter.
Superfoods, if you are into them. Try spirulina (not too much, bitter!), matcha powder, baobab powder for the vitamin c, and maca for hormonal support.
How to Make a Smoothie Bowl a Meal Replacer?
It's easy to make a smoothie bowl a meal replacer. This one is by virtue of the high protein count from the add ins of hemp seeds and banana.
Another way to make a smoothie a meal-replacer is to add fiber in the form of oats. Yep, just throwing a handful of uncooked rolled oats will make this smoothie a filling meal.
Is this Smoothie Vegan & Dairy-Free?
As are all my smoothies, this smoothie recipe is vegetarian, vegan, plant-based, dairy-free, and gluten-free.
How Do You Thicken a Smoothie Bowl?
I thicken mine with frozen fruits and sometimes frozen veggies such as zucchini or avocado.
Should I Add Ice To Thicken a Smoothie?
I do not recommend adding ice to thicken a smoothie bowl because it can water down your smoothie as well as dull your blender blades.
Are Smoothie Bowls Actually Healthy?
Of course, depending on how you build them. This one has 11g protein and 11g fiber and can easily be a meal. My post here on How to Make a Smoothie provides lists of the best ingredients to put into a smoothie and it applies to smoothie bowls as well.
