Step 1: Soak the dates for 5 minutes in just-boiled water. Pit and add to food processor. My recipe notes give you an option WITHOUT dates, using maple syrup and walnuts instead.

Step 2: Add the rest of ingredients and process until combined.

Step 3: Press the mixture into a parchment-lined loaf pan. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave for the topping.

Step 4: Pour melted chocolate on top of pressed brownie mixture. Chill under half an hour to set.

Step 5: Slice and serve.  Store these flourless brownies sealed. They keep at room temperature for 2 days, refrigerated for one week, and frozen for three months.
