Rinse delicate berries like raspberries and blueberries, but rub strawberries vigorously and remove the tops. You can even use a very diluted concoction of white vinegar in water to wash the fruit if you deem it necessary.
Chop the melon, lemon, and limes into chunks. Some people say to remove the pith from lemons and limes, but I think flavor comes from the peel so I say leave the peel on but don't let the peels get older than 24 hours. After that, remove them from the water as the pith inside can begin to release a bitter flavor into the water.
Add the fruit to a pitcher of iced water water and let it sit in the refrigerator for about one hour before drinking, longer if you want a stronger flavor.
4 ½ cups iced water, ¼ cup raspberries, ¼ cup strawberries, ¼ cup blueberries, ¼ cup mango, ¼ cup lemons, chopped, ¼ cup limes, chopped
Remove all fruits after 48 hours. Refrigerated, the water is fine to drink for a full three days.
