A frozen immunity cubes made with 3 ingredients plus spices, can make a potent drink that fights cold and flu germs and boosts immunity. Also called immunity bombs, medicine ball or immunity hot tea or shot that busts those cold and flu germs.
These frozen immunity cubes or immunity bombs are single ice cubes you defrost in a cup, or drop in a cup of hot water to make a steaming cup of tea or blend with milk to make an immunity boosting smoothie.
Make them easily by blending nourishing ingredients, freezing into ice cubes, and storing in the freezer until needed. These immunity cubes are less expensive to make than buying single immunity shots in bottles or even expensive pharmacy cold busters such as Coldeez lozenges or Emergen-C tablets.
These immunity bombs are a different form of my homemade daily ginger shot, or my 5 wellness shots which support different areas besides immunity.
Ingredients for Immunity Bombs
- Lemon. Washed, chopped - add the full unpeeled lemon to the blender.
- Carrots. Add any form - baby, frozen, shredded.
- Orange. Washed, chopped - add the full unpeeled orange to the blender.
- Ginger. Ground ginger powder or fresh ginger root, chopped.
- Turmeric & black pepper. Both are needed to help the body absorb all anti-inflammatory and immune boosting benefits.
- Salt. Electrolytes
Tip: You can use fresh ginger root instead of ground ginger. To use fresh, use about 2 inches of unpeeled ginger root, washed and chopped.
How Do Immunity Bombs Taste?
- The immunity cubes make a spicy drink with a taste of citrus. To make it sweeter, double the oranges or add a sweetener.
- The immunity cubes also make a drink - hot or cold - that is dairy free, gluten free, vegan and refined sugar free.
What Are The Benefits
- Oranges: High in vitamin C.
- Lemon: High in vitamin C.
- Carrots. High in vitamin A.
- Ginger. Anti-inflammatory.
- Salt. Electrolytes
- Turmeric & Black Pepper. Curcumin, the main component of turmeric, is considered anti-inflammatory and antiviral. Black pepper assists the body in absorbing curcumin.

How to Make Immunity Bombs
For more detail, visit the complete and printable recipe at the bottom of this post, but here are general steps.
Step 1: Wash your lemon, orange, carrots (unless frozen), and ginger root if using. I use white vinegar or even soap and hot water, Chop into chunks.
Step 2: Add all the ingredients except for the turmeric to a blender.
Step 3: Process the blender for one minutes.
Step 4: Pour the mixture through a strainer and stir to remove pulp. Taste the mixture and add honey or maple syrup if needed.*
To add a sweetener.* You can add honey or maple syrup to keep the drink refined sugar free. Honey is anti-viral and anti-bacterial but it is not considered vegan. Maple syrup is vegan and has some minerals.
Step 5: Add turmeric to the strained mixture and stir.
Step 6: Pour the mixture into an ice cube tray and freeze overnight.
Step 7: Use your immunity cubes by thawing 2-4 in a glass to make a cold immunity shot, or pour hot water over cubes in a mug to make hot immunity tea.
3 Ways to Use Immunity Cubes
This recipe makes about 3 ¾ cups of mixture. That makes 30 (2-tbsp) cubes if you use the ice cube tray I used which has 2-tbsp wells. Use 3 cubes to make hot immunity tea or to thaw to make an immunity bomb or medicine bomb.
Make a hot immunity tea. Put 2-4 cubes in a mug and pour hot steaming water or even your favorite tea over them. Stir to thaw and enjoy your immunity tea.
Make a single immunity shot. Put 2-4 cubes into a glass, set it in the refrigerator the night before and allow it to thaw. Drink the next day.
Make an immunity-boosting smoothie. Blend 4 cubes in a smoothie with 1 cup of milk for a creamy immunity smoothie.
Storage
Store cubes in a covered ice cube tray or freeze them in a tray and store the cubes in a freezer bag for up to 3 months.
Recipe Tips
- The reason to wait to add the ground turmeric spice until it leaves the blender is because it can stain the blender jar orange.
- Carrots can be fresh or frozen. Don't use green stems.
- Wash the ginger root well to remove dirt and cut off any off areas.
- The orange and lemon peels add nutrition so keep them on. The only drawback to keeping the peel is it can add a bitter flavor so taste-test your cube mixture and add a sweetener if needed.
