Ingredients
Spinach. I use prewashed baby spinach for the convenience.
Berries. I used blueberries and cranberries, but any berry mix will do.
Carrots. Frozen shredded carrots add a sweet frosty flavor and texture.
Milk. You'll need milk to create a smooth texture. I used almond milk.
If you want a sweeter smoothie, add ½ a frozen banana or a date or 2.
See the recipe card at the bottom for full information on ingredients and quantities.
Substitutions
Spinach. Any leafy green works.
Berries. Use any combo of blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, or cranberries. Frozen or not.
Carrots. Zucchini also works, fresh or frozen.
Milk. You'll need some milk but you can also use half yogurt for a creamier texture.
How to Make a Spinach Berry Smoothie
For more detail, visit the complete and printable recipe at the bottom of this post, but here are general steps.
Step 1: Add all ingredients to a blender, with the leafy greens and milk at the bottom so the blender blades hits them first.
Step 2: Blend until creamy. This might take up to a minute depending on your blender type.
Recipe Tips
If you don't have a powerful blender, blend the spinach and milk alone first so it breaks down before adding the rest of the ingredients.
To power up this smoothie, add a ¼ cup rolled oats and 2 tablespoon chia seeds. This basically turns it into a meal replacement smoothie.
