🧾Ingredients for Blueberry Coffee
- Blueberries. Fresh or frozen.
- Coffee. Either brewed coffee, brewed espresso shots, or homemade coffee syrup
- Milk. I use almond milk, but you can use your favorite. The higher the fat, the easier to foam the top. You can try coconut or cashew or hemp milk as well. Unflavored and unsweetened milk is best for this drink.

Pro-tip: If you don't use my homemade coffee syrup, you can use coffee made from an espresso machine (strong), coffee made using a French press or a drip coffee maker or even cold brew.

Step 5: Spoon on cold foam and enjoy cold, right away with or without a straw! You can also top with whipped cream if you prefer and drizzle with homemade chocolate sauce.
Make Blueberry Cold Foam
Put ¼ cup milk and 2 tablespoon of coconut cream (canned or a shaken can of full fat coconut milk) into a glass. Add 2 tablespoon of the blueberry puree you made for this recipe. Add ½ teaspoon of vanilla and a pinch of salt. Mix the cold foam with a hand frother.
Recipe Variations
To add sweetener. You can either use my homemade coffee syrup which has been made with unrefined coconut sugar, or add a teaspoon or more of your favorite sweetener to the milk before pouring it in to be sure it dissolves.
To make it decaffeinated. You can make decaffeinated brewed coffee, or you can make decaffeinated homemade coffee syrup. To make either type of coffee decaffeinated, simple swap decaffeinated coffee for regular coffee.
Recipe & Make Ahead Tips
- Make ahead coffee. If you don't make my homemade coffee syrup and keep it stored refrigerated, you can also brew coffee and freeze it in ice cube trays.
- To make a cold foam or hot foam. Start with a higher fat milk such as almond milk or even coconut milk (if you like that tropical flavor). For cold foam, use a handheld frother. For hot foam, use a more expensive automated heat frother.
- Make ahead blueberry puree. Puree fresh blueberries in batches in a blender and then freeze the puree in ice cube trays. Microwave 30 seconds to thaw.
- To make blueberry puree into a syrup. Boil it for about 3 minutes and strain. You can add a teaspoon or two of sugar before boiling and stir. You might need to add a tablespoon of water or more.
FAQS
Wash and chop 1 cup of fresh blueberry. Add them to a saucepan with 2 tablespoon of coconut sugar (unrefined) or maple syrup (also unrefined), and ¼ cup of water. Simmer until it bubbles, about 1-2 minutes. Strain and the liquid is your syrup.
To store it, refrigerate for 24 hours. After that, it will not taste good. In fact, it tastes best freshly made. To make ahead, it is best to keep the blueberry puree and coffee made ahead and assemble the drink when you are ready.
Yes, leave off the ice and warm the milk for 60 seconds in the microwave before pouring onto the blueberry puree and adding the coffee.
