    This strawberry watermelon milkshake is fruity, light, and naturally sweet. There is no added sugar, and no heavy dairy. It’s the kind of cooling treat you’ll want all summer long. This one is made with milk, lime and no ice cream or banana.

    Ingredients Needed

    • Watermelon, frozen. If you use fresh, use half as much.
    • Milk. I used canned coconut milk but use your favorite
    • Strawberries, frozen
    • Lime juice
    • Chia seeds
    • Yogurt, dairy free and plain

    🍫 Steps to Make Watermelon Milkshake

    Prep: Cut seedless watermelon into chunks. And freeze or use it in this smoothie fresh. Here is my post on how to freeze watermelon.

    Step 1: Add all ingredients to a blender.

    Step 2: Blend the milkshake for 1 minute. Don't over blend or it will get warm but enough so the chia seeds get broken down.

    💡 Tips for the Best Texture

    • If you are using fresh watermelon, not frozen, use only ½ cup, add an additional 1 tablespoon of chia seeds, and definitely let the ingredients sit for 5 minutes before blending so the chia seeds can gel up and thicken the texture.
    • Use canned coconut milk for a creamier texture.
    • Before blending, let the mixture sit for 5 minutes to let the chia seeds gel for additional creamy texture.
    • Use plant-based yogurt to avoid curdling with the lime juice. I use cashew or coconut yogurt.

    Turn this shake into creamy popsicles! Just pour into molds and freeze overnight. You'll be making healthier popsicles than you can buy at the store.

    Can you make a milkshake without ice cream?

    Totally! Yogurt, fruit, and chia create creaminess without the heaviness of traditional shakes.

    Why add salt to a fruit shake?

    It balances the flavors and brings out the sweetness naturally—just a pinch does the trick.

    What milk works best?

    Coconut milk adds richness, but oat or almond milk also blend well for lighter versions.

    Can you blend watermelon with milk?

    • 1 cup watermelon, frozen or fresh* if using fresh watermelon, see notes first
    • ¾ cup strawberries, frozen
    • ⅓ cup coconut milk, canned & full fat or your favorite milk
    • 2 tablespoon yogurt use coconut or cashew to avoid curdling with lime juice
    • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
    • 2 tablespoon lime juice
    • pinch salt

    Instructions
     

    Prep

    • Prepare watermelon. Cut into rough chunks. You can freeze them or use fresh.
    • Shake the coconut milk can, and open and measure.

    Make milkshake

    • Add all ingredients to a blender.
      ¾ cup strawberries, frozen, 1 cup watermelon, frozen or fresh*, ⅓ cup coconut milk, canned & full fat, 2 tablespoon yogurt, 1 tablespoon chia seeds, 2 tablespoon lime juice, pinch salt
    • Blend about 1 minute.
    • Pour and enjoy right away or chill up to 10 hours.

    Notes
