Make iced cloud coffee with cocoa mocha flavors - a mocha frozen hot chocolate! This 4-ingredient dairy-free twist on the viral cloud coffee is rich with chocolate, coffee, spices and a pillowy cold foam top. Make it with or without coffee, so budget friendly.

This iced cloud coffee with cocoa, or frozen hot chocolate with coffee, is a chocolate twist on the viral cloud coffee. This version brings a chocolate and dairy free version to the table.
The drink is a combination of frozen hot chocolate, whipped Dalgona coffee and white-patched clouds on the glass. My cloud cocoa version is dairy-free, no weird additives. You can make it caffeine free - just leave off the coffee!
The best part? It takes just a few minutes to whip up, costs pennies per glass, and looks like it came straight from your favorite coffee shop.

🧾Ingredients for Cloud Coffee Cocoa

- Cocoa powder.
- Brown sugar. Or use coconut sugar to keep it refined sugar free.
- Instant coffee. Or brewed coffee or a fresh espresso shot.
- Cinnamon & vanilla
- Milk. I use almond milk, but you can use your favorite. The higher the fat, the easier to foam the top. You can try coconut or cashew or hemp milk as well.
See the recipe card at the bottom for full information on ingredients and quantities.
Pro tip: Use a high fat milk like almond milk or cashew milk, a creamer like Chobani, or even canned coconut milk. A high fat texture makes the drink creamier and helps the cloud foam faster and thicker.

🥣Steps to Make Cloud Coffee Cocoa
For more detail, visit the complete and printable recipe at the bottom of this post, but here are general steps.

Step 1: Make the base: In a microwave-safe cup, combine cocoa, coffee, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and ¼ cup of milk.

Step 2: Froth it: Warm in the microwave for 30 seconds just to help the sugar dissolve. Use a hand frother to whip the warm cocoa mix until frothy and foamy.

Step 3: Make the cloud: In a separate cup, froth the remaining ¾ cup of milk into cold foam. You can use an electric milk frother, a jar (shake vigorously), or a whisk.

Step 4: Paint on the cloud: Swirl or streak some of the cold foam or even whipped cream or yogurt, along the inside of a glass or jar. This gives the “cloud” look.

Step 5: Add coffee cocoa: Fill the glass or jar with ice. Pour in the frothed coffee cocoa.

Step 6: Pour in frothed milk and spoon on the cold foam. Sprinkle with cinnamon or cocoa powder.
🥄Make Extra Creamy Cloud Cold Foam
To ½ cup milk add 2 tablespoon of coconut cream (either the solid part or from a shaken can of full fat coconut milk) into a glass. Add ½ teaspoon of vanilla and a pinch of salt. Mix the cold foam with a hand frother or use an electric frother.
💡 Recipe Tips & Substitutions
- No frother? Use a mason jar with a tight lid and shake vigorously until bubbly and thick. Make sure the cocoa coffee mixture is not too hot when you shake or it will splatter - perhaps shake before you microwave.
- For pure iced cloud cocoa, leave off the coffee entirely.
- To make cloud streaks that don't dissolve, use your favorite plain yogurt.
FAQS
Cloud coffee is a layered drink made with frothed milk, topped with cold foam for a cloud-like effect. It’s inspired by viral cloud coffee but adds cocoa giving it a mocha flavor.
Yes! You can! Just shake the ingredients in a sealed jar or blending briefly with an immersion blender or whisk. It won’t be as airy, but still tasty and beautiful.
High-fat milks or creamers work best for foaming—look for full-fat almond milk, barista oat milk, or coconut cream. For the best “cloud” effect, use a cold milk and a dedicated milk frother if you have one.
