a pitcher of water with fruit

Stay hydrated with a collection of fruit flavored water. Lemons and limes, fresh berries and even mango create a colorful delicious way to hydrate.

a pitcher full of water and fruit and ice

Rainbow fruit flavored water makes it easy to consume the eight glasses of water a day we are all encouraged to down. And this pitcher of rainbow fruits is especially easy to drink.

The mix includes citrus fruits, berries and melon, and actually represents each color of the rainbow. Not only is it fresh to drink with the tang of lemon and lime, but it's also healthy with nutrients that leach into the water.

And eating a mix of foods that represent each color of the rainbow is considered nutritionally sound. Read more about how valuable it is to eat the rainbow here.

    Why Drink This Water?

Infusing water with fruits is useful because our bodies need water. We are made of nearly 70% water and we need to keep ourselves topped off to keep body processes functioning properly. Sure we can just drink 8-10 glasses of water a day, but it goes down easier when the water is fruited up. It tastes tangy and sweet, even though there are no calories in it. It's the best way to hydrate.

    Ingredients

This pitcher of fruit infused water is filled with fruits that represent the colors pink, red, blue, white, yellow and green. I suggest you buy organic if possible because many fruits absorb pesticides into their skins, according to the EWG.org.

Raspberries (pink) - supports skin bone and organs

Strawberries (red)- fights disease, high in vitamin C

Blueberries (blue) - supports bones heart and menopause

    Mango (orange) - system purifier

Lemon (yellow) - alkalizes, boosts vitamin C

Lime (green) - supports skin, aids with constipation, adds sweetness

    How to Make

Putting an infused water pitcher together is simple. Using the ratio 1 part fruit to 4 parts water, follow these steps to infuse your water:

step 1: Rinse delicate berries like raspberries and blueberries, but rub strawberries vigorously and remove the tops. You can even use a very diluted concoction of white vinegar in water to wash the fruit if you deem it necessary.

step 2: Chop the melon, lemon, and limes into chunks. Some people say to remove the pith from lemons and limes, but I think flavor comes from the peel so I say leave the peel on but don't let the peels get older than 24 hours. After that, remove them from the water as the pith inside can begin to release a bitter flavor into the water.

step 3: Add the fruit to a pitcher of iced water water and let it sit in the refrigerator for about one hour before drinking, longer if you want a stronger flavor.

step 4: Remove all fruits after 48 hours. Refrigerated, the water is fine to drink for a full three days.

    FAQS

Can you eat the fruit that you remove after 24 hours?

Yes! Although some of it might be soggy, especially delicate raspberries.

Can you freeze the fruit infused water in ice cubes?

Yes! Freezing a chunk of fruit and water in ice cubes is a great way to have infused water available to your long term.

I've also been experimenting with infused waters lately - my favorite is rosemary , lime and mint. So tasty!
      Sending you lots of love!
